Miami Marlins News
The Miami Marlins have acquired Pitcher Carlos Marmol to a one year contract worth 1.25 million, pending a physical.
Carlos is 31 years old and can still throw hard, has 117 career saves, the knock on him has been the ability to throw strikes and get ahead in the count. With this signing the Miami Marlins find themselves a veteran reliever with experience closing, fear not Marlin fans Steve Cishek has nothing to worry about unless he tanks, but Marmol was brought here as insurance and more then likely to set up in the eighth inning. Last year Marmol Pitched for the Chicago Cubs and L.A. Dodgers and finished with a combined record of 2-4 with a 4.41 E.R.A. has also appeared in 504 games and has 730 strikeouts while also being elected to the 2008 all-star game.
The Miami Marlins are expected to carry seven relievers, but it seems five spots can already be a lock. In my opinion the marlins quietly have been active and have added veteran players in areas of need and also brings more of a balance to a team that has a considerably young roster.
